THE ORIGINAL TOYS, Featuring JUNE MONTEIRO
"Being a part of a legendary '60s Girl Group was a dream come true for me! For as long as I can remember, I always wanted to be an entertainer. My Mom played the organ and piano. My Dad played the violin and guitar in a band. The violin was his favorite instrument. When I was six years old, Dad started taking me with him to club dates, where I sang and danced while his band played. And people threw money at me. Even at that young age, I realized the joy that singing brought to people." Those were the words of June Monteiro of The Toys, the Legendary 1960s Girl Group, which also included lead singer, Babara Harris, and Barbara Parritt.
In 1965, The Toys topped the charts for six weeks with "A Lover's Concerto," whose instrumental track is based on a classical piece by Bach. The Group followed up "A Lover's Concerto" with a second hit "Attack". Through the ups and downs of her life, June has always remained in the entertainment industry.
